Tell me a story an adventure trip

Of sailing away on a pirate’s ship

Or discovering the jungle like an explorer brave

And finding excitement in every cave.

Tell me a story a biography true

About Abraham Lincoln and George Washington too

Or maybe Thomas Edison who liked inventing things

Or the Wright Brothers who wished they’d had wings.

Tell me a story a fantasy dream

Of imaginary places floating down a stream

Of witches and fairies and magical things

Of unicorns and dragons flying with wings.

Tell me a story about long ago

A history of people and places I know

Of how our country started and how it came to be

That’s how I can learn about history.

So tell me a story make-believe or true

Fact or fiction either one will do

A story fills your mind with knowledge either way

So why not read a story everyday.
